That's what I thought of when painting this. Yesterday's and today's paintings were done 95% with the palette knife. Love the loose feeling and thick paint passages you can get with the knife vs. the brush. Your thoughts?
I was born and raised in Pittsburgh (home of the Steelers) and came to the Northwest in 1978. I've been fortunate to travel extensively throughout the world with my sketch book, pen and ink and watercolors. That's easiest for me going through security and customs. When at home my medium of choice is oil and pastel. I love plein air and also working in my little studio. A little jazz or classical music and a paint brush, well, it doesn't get much better.
I've taught two wonderful workshops, one in Oahu, Hawaii and the other in El Dorado National Forest. My art class at Kaewyn Gallery in Bothell, WA was a delight however a brief episode with breast cancer temporarily interfered. I'm back, good as new.
I've been accepted in Juried Shows as well as Invitationals and will continue to always strive for that next level.
I love how you did the glass.
ReplyDeleteI use the knife for the finishing touches so I agree that you can get nice thick paint. Mostly I like it because I do not get muddy colors.
i will be trying palette knife tomorrow. It looks like fun! Love the loose feel of your painting!
ReplyDeleteThank you Julie and Kaethe. Using a palette knife can be quite freeing. Makes you just want to be bold.
